Sunday, 28 July 2024 - 12:00pm

Join The Contemporary Art Modern Project for an exclusive Sunday event on July 28th where we will be hosting conversation between co-curators of the exhibition, Gabe Torres and Amayah Novela. The event opens at noon and will run until 3:00 pm, and we'll be serving free refreshments and finger food. The talk begins at 1:30 pm.

The Immutable Will of Nature is available for viewing in our North Miami gallery at 791-793 NE 125th St. until August 24 2024.

The artists in this exhibition, Guang-Yu Zhang, Ziesook You, Xuanchen Fan, Su Yu, Cecilia Moy Fradet, and Hou Guan Ting, weave ancient foundations across East Asian and Western cultures together with contemporary interpretations. Together, they react to both the inevitability of the natural world and the capacity of choice as a natural impulse of the human condition. This exhibition serves as a testament to the enduring power of art to draw parallels between the delicate balance of human agency and The Immutable Will of Nature. Curated by Amayah Novela and Gabe Torres.

The CAMP Gallery is open Tuesday–Saturday, 12 to 5 PM.

Free parking is available

The Contemporary Art Modern Project (The CAMP Gallery)

The Contemporary Art Modern Project Gallery specializes in art advisory and contemporary art with a focus on emerging and mid-career artists working in: installation, painting, photography, sculpture, textiles, and video art with a specific direction of both self and worldly reflection. Looking at art, as a whole, through a reactionary and interdisciplinary approach, the gallery covers the ever-populating notion of society and life in general through art and curation, offering a creative space both in the gallery and out—where creativity and reality co-exist.

ABOUT GUANG-YU ZHANG
Guang-Yu Zhang is currently based in Shanghai, China. In 2012 He received his BFA from Central Saint Martin’s College of Arts and Design, London.Saatchi Art recognised Guang as one of their notable emerging artists and featured him in their ‘One to Watch’ list first. Oriental inspiration takes on a Western twist. The mythical realm blurs the boundaries of reality. Guang's work presented the aesthetic impression that is produced by fusion of strong contrast elements, like the fusion of eastern and Western culture, integration of classical and modern art. He references many Chinese classical art forms and elements, and expresses them through contemporary techniques and aesthetic ways. An innovative mix of traditional elements of culture and travel, creating a fresh balance of texture and colour.

ABOUT ZIESOOK YOU
Ziesook You has been experimenting with a variety of genres such as photography, video, installation, and painting. She portrays her surroundings and daily life in a bold, unaffected video language. Her pieces
include the video diary of her family using time flowing methods, a documentary film taken in various world travel sites depicting space and time, and 10 Years Self- Portrait using time compression techniques. She has exhibited in Korea, Australia, Iceland, Taiwan, Hungary, Japan, France, the Netherlands, the UK, and the United States. Since 2016, she has been working on the "Scent of Broq-pa" project, which expresses happiness through the coexistence of humans and nature, with people from various walks of life and has been exhibiting it in Korea, Hong Kong, UK, and the United States. Her work prefers continuous series in which layers accumulate over a long period of time, examining time, space, nature, and life in Petersburg FL.

ABOUT XUANCHEN FAN
The work of multimedia artist Xuanchen Fan channels the vivacity of Miami’s contemporary art and feminism themes, and Fan’s artistic output spans paintings of bright cartoonish imagery to abstract Chinese paintings. She graduated from University of Miami (BS) and Central Saint Martins (MA). She has worked with Swatch, English National Opera and the Children Society in London as an artist or filmmaker. Her artworks have been selected for many awards, and her artwork collectors include Swatch Group and Swatch Art Peace Hotel.

ABOUT SU YU
Born in 1987 in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, and now living in Beijing; Su Yu has spent his life a professional painter training under masters of the art, culminating in his unique mixture of collage and scenic mastery. While engrossed in his studies of the old masters, his specific way of portraying the group scene and still life has led to this distinctly gritty, yet sometimes playful approach to the characters in his paintings with aspects of modern life and a caricature/portraiture mixture leading to his wide catalog of work.

ABOUT CECILIA MOY FRADET
Cecilia Moy Fradet is a Guild Member of the Silvermine Guild of Artists, the Artists Collective of Westport, the Center for Contemporary Printmaking and an Art Educator at the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Connecticut. Her studio is located at Firing Circuits Artist Studios in Norwalk, CT.

Born in Hong Kong and raised in New York City, Cecilia's father was a calligrapher and her grandfather a landscape painter. These figures fueled a lifelong fascination with the visual arts. Her formal training began at New York City’s H.S. of Art and Design. As an undergraduate, she attended City College of New York and Goldsmith University in London. She continued studies in Manhattan at both Parsons the New School for Design and F.I.T, graduating with an Associates Degree in Fashion Design. Cecilia went on to work as a fashion designer in Manhattan for eleven years, traveling extensively through Europe and Asia. She moved to Weston, Connecticut with her family in 1992.

ABOUT HOU GUAN TING
Residing in Taiwan, Hou Guan Ting is an emerging fiber artist who speaks on deeply cultural and personal themes with their use of their adding a deeply intimate and textural quality to their work.

Guan Ting’s work is grotesque, delicate and contradictory. The peculiar appearance might not be easily accepted by the public, however the delicacy of language within is the inevitable and unavoidable feature. This is the kind of contradiction he likes to express throughout his work, by inviting the observer to experience it gently and patiently.
