Artist ( Description ):

Bogdan P. K. Perzyński was born in Poznań, Poland, and currently lives and works in Austin, Texas. He was trained in law at the University of Adam Mickiewicz, Poznań, and in architecture, and fine arts at the University of Fine Arts in Poznań where he earned his fine arts degree in 1979 with a specialization in Painting and Drawing. Throughout the same year he abandoned traditionally defined art for a more open-ended art practice. His first solo show was at the Akumulatory 2, a non-profit experimental artist run art gallery. Between 1979-83 he worked at the gallery and began teaching at Poznan’s University of Fine Arts. In the following year 1983-84 he lived in Germany but in 1984 moved permanently to the United States. Throughout 1984-87 he lived and taught art at the University of California Santa Barbara. Since 1987 Bogdan Perzyński has taught at the University of Texas at Austin while maintaining a Texan, and Polish residence.
