The Brick Lane Gallery is proud to present ART IN MIND, an exhibition bringing together an exciting range of UK and international contemporary artists. This eclectic show aims to broaden our concept of art through a variety of works by these talented artists including drawings, paintings and sculptures.
Focusing on the human body, Julien Hayot creates a kind of topography of it, follow the route curves, junctions, crossings and dead-ends. His work is based purely on the line; a line that he places in black and white like an endless tape, but sprinkles halts, and becomes free through escaped paths. The body’s route tells stories, dreams, nightmares, in the form of figures-logo, like on the road the traffic signs that call attention, revealing the unexpected, the living. Each of his works is as an element that contributes to the discovery of a new geography of the body. Exploring a d different side of humanity, Tobbe Malm’s sculptures portray a feeling, a situation, or communication. By heating and shaping the hard material into human forms expressing emotions, the tender theme amplifies. His work is often inspired by meetings with people and situations, experiences and memories. He wants to tell stories; he wants to be true, open and inviting. The cold, hard iron is heated to thousand degrees and becomes malleable, he gets a brief moment to express his idea. With the hammer he "freezes" a feeling, a meeting, a word or an entire story: his story or the viewer's.
You are warmly welcome to join us for a drink with the artists at the opening night of ART IN MIND at The Brick Lane Gallery – The Annexe open from 6pm-8.30pm on Wednesday 14th October 2015.
