An art/science exhibition and activities grand opening day for GREJCZIK GALLERY, Scarborough with an exhibition in celebration of the UN/UNESCO Year of Light 2015.
Featuring two artists exploring the duality of light being both a particle and a wave.
- California artist Kristin HENRY creates images pseudo-mathematically by programming digital light “particles” to interact and exchange energy and colours. The result is captured as complex and beautiful abstract prints.
- Local American-British artist Tina MAMMOSER focuses on wavelengths of light and how they represent colour. Her minimalist but ethereal small paintings explore the spectrums of stars purely with colour.
- The gallery will also feature an illustration wall with a giant drawing of the Sun.
Everyone is welcome to the opening day event on 20th August. Activities for visitors include the chance to try out optics like a digital microscope and binoculars for viewing sunspot, weather permitting.
Scarborough's new 'micro-gallery', inspired by a love of both art and science, aims to create a changing display that the public can enjoy all year round, plus seasonal 'themed' pop-up exhibitions.
