The Aroma of Still Life: 50 Years of Exhibition Experience, an international online solo oil painting exhibition by Alex Klas officially opens on March 1, and continues for two months until May 1, 2025.
Sunflowers blaze like golden flames, their petals curling with life, their centers rich with depth and mystery. The aroma of ripe peaches, the warmth of apricots spilling onto a table, the rustic elegance of a porcelain vase—these elements breathe a sensory experience into Alex Klas' latest solo exhibition, The Aroma of Still Life. Through an expressive symphony of color, texture, and movement, Klas redefines still life, turning it into a dance of light and emotion.
Drawing from the traditions of the great impressionists yet infused with his signature expressionist energy, Klas captures the essence of life’s fleeting beauty. His oil paintings pulse with an almost tangible vibrancy—the thick impasto strokes bring dimension to sunflowers that seem to sway with an unseen breeze, while his interplay of warm and cool tones creates a striking visual harmony. The contrast of deep cerulean blues against fiery oranges evokes a dynamic tension, a sense that these bouquets and fruits are not merely arranged, but alive, whispering stories of seasons past and present.
Klas’ still life compositions are not passive studies of objects; they are invitations to feel. The rich texture of a red glass vase, the scattered petals and fallen blooms, the softened glow of fruit bathed in diffused light—all hint at time’s passage, at nature’s delicate impermanence. In each piece, the viewer senses the artist’s intimate dialogue with his subjects, his brush translating nostalgia, reverence, and wonder into color and form.
Having exhibited in prestigious galleries and art fairs across the U.S., Europe, and the Middle East, and with works housed in esteemed collections worldwide, Klas brings a masterful touch to this genre. The Aroma of Still Life is not simply a celebration of stillness—it is a testament to the poetry of the everyday, a reminder that beauty resides in the quiet, in the overlooked, in the way light kisses petals or shadows caress the curve of a vase.
Step into this exhibition, inhale deeply, and let these paintings transport you to a world where color, memory, and sensation intertwine—a world where still life is anything but still.
